American Chemical Society Study Guides

Suggestion:  Would it be possible to get the ACS (American Chemical Society) study guides for the ACS test (all chemistry students are required to take this test as 20% of their final grade) in the reserve stacks?

Response: Thank you for the suggestion! We have placed an order for three copies of the study guides for the Bryan campus and one for the Brenham campus, all of which will be placed on reserve. As soon as the books arrive we will update this post with a comment to let you know they have arrived.

Printing in the Library

Suggestion: Get more printing computers

Response: Unfortunately at the Bryan Campus Library we do frequently run at capacity when it comes to computer use. There are other spots on campus you can print from as well that are always underutilized. The Learning Center on the 2nd floor of the Bryan Campus Library Building always has computers available for student use and printing. And you can always check the open computer lab in Room 225 of the H building.

Staple Removers

Suggestion: Could we have a staple remover in the copier room?

Response: In the past we have had staple removers in the copy room. It is possible that it was accidentally removed. I have requested that we order some new staple removers for the copy room.

Copy Machine Instructions

Suggestion: Let's make some detailed instructions for those who aren't familiar with the copiers

Response: This is a great idea, thank you. Actually the Library Technical Assistants are working on creating detailed instructions on how to use and operate the copy machines that can be posted in the copy room. We hope to have them out soon.

Copiers

Suggestion: The copy machines should take debit cards

Response:   This is an excellent idea, thank you. We have forwarded this suggestion to Blinn's Purchasing Department.

Suggestion from a Bryan Campus student:

I like to study in the quiet area but the tables are always taken. I'd suggest switching to smaller tables (maybe with 2 seats instead of 4) because there's usually only 1 person to a table and everyone wants to study privately. I'd also suggest more of those private cubicle desks that are along the far left wall.

Response:

Every seat at every table is often taken during the busiest times of the day. We are just too small for the number of students who attend at the Bryan Campus. We have taken pictures to document the problem and hope we can add space at some point in the future. Until then, feel free to sit at any table – other people sitting at a table should not keep you from studying quietly at the same table. Please tell a library staff member at the service desk if anyone is not respecting the quiet study environment on that side of the library.

We also like the individual study carrels, but won't be able to add more or change tables while budgets are so tight. If we have the opportunity to add space or renovate, we'll push for more private seating like this, as long as it doesn't reduce our total seating capacity.
